Please reach us at info@llhschoolofphlebotomy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A phlebotomy technician is a trained healthcare professional who draws blood from patients for lab testing, transfusions, donations, or research. They also ensure patient comfort, proper labeling, and safe specimen handling.

The program is offered in-classroom setting in Panama City, Florida, with required hands-on lab sessions to ensure proper skill development.

Our instructors are certified and experienced healthcare professionals who provide real-world knowledge, guidance, and support throughout your training.

Although LLH School of Phlebotomy cannot guarantee job placement, Phlebotomy technicians are in demand in:

  • Hospitals
  • Laboratories
  • Clinics
  • Blood donation centers

LLH focuses on career-ready training to help you confidently enter the workforce.

A 12-week program provides:

  • Deeper understanding of procedures and safety

Basic Human Anatomy

Basic Human Anatomy

Basic Human Anatomy

The student will need to know how the body and its systems work. Students will take in-depth courses in human anatomy including the bones, muscles and nerves. They will learn about the different systems that are working in the body, specifically the respiratory system, the nervous system and the muscular system. Blood and cell composition are other important phlebotomy courses taught.

Medical Terminology

Basic Human Anatomy

Communication Skills

It is important that students learn medical terminology. The program will cover the many different root words found in medical terms, as well as their prefixes and suffixes. These will be very detailed and lecture-based classes, where a lot of memorization is necessary. These skills will help minimize the amount of errors that students will make when they are out on the field.

Communication Skills

Phlebotomy Hands-on Training

Communication Skills

Students will advance their interpersonal communication skills.  They will learn proper techniques on how to talk to their patients and how to calm them down to make blood collection easier. They will learn how to gather medical history from their patients and learn what they can and cannot say to patients. Students will also learn the importance of confidentiality and the repercussions of saying too much.

Lab Safety Procedures

Phlebotomy Hands-on Training

Phlebotomy Hands-on Training

The program teaches the students the rules and regulations that are to be followed when working in any laboratory. These skills will help to protect both the students and the patients and will ensure proper blood and specimen collection is done. Most of these procedures are universal throughout the medical industry and will be used by the students no matter what type of environment they choose to work in after the program.

Phlebotomy Hands-on Training

Phlebotomy Hands-on Training

Phlebotomy clinical is usually the last part of the program and cannot be taken until many of the other courses have been satisfactory completed. The clinical will give students hand-on training in learning the correct way to collect a specimen. Great care is taken to ensure that students are collecting the blood correctly and preparing it properly to be transported.

What is a Phlebotomy Technician?

A phlebotomy technician is typically an interchangeable job title for a phlebotomist. Phlebotomy technicians have several important roles in the phlebotomy field that starts with interacting with a patient and ends in the laboratory. In between, a phlebotomy technician will have to go through several job tasks each day to make sure they’re getting their job done correctly, efficiently, and safely.

How much can a Phlebotomy Technician make?

-On average, how much you can make as a phlebotomist depends on how often your work. One of the great things about becoming a phlebotomy technician is that you can often have a flexible schedule, allowing you more time for schooling, family, etc. Most on-staff phlebotomy technicians will make an average of around $16.50 per hour.

- If you become a full-time phlebotomy technician for a hospital or other medical facility, you’ll likely receive a standing salary (and as a result, benefits, which should be factored into how much you’re making from your job.). As a full-time phlebotomy technician, you can make an average of around $32,000 a year.

- Again, this is an entry-level position with tremendous room for growth, so as a starting point for a career, the salary is a perk. Even if you move up to a supervisory position in phlebotomy, you can make around $45,000 a year, so sticking with the career can have many rewards in a very short amount of time if you make attempts to advance in your position with promotions.

What does the Phlebotomy Technician Program consist of?

- This program is a 90-hour program that offers students NAACLS Entry Level Competencies Guidelines training in preparation of taking the National Certification Exam.   The program provides students the skills and knowledge required to work in specimen collection in a healthcare setting.

 - The program includes hands-on phlebotomy training, which gives students hand-on training in learning the correct way to collect a specimen. Great care is taken to ensure that students are collecting the blood correctly and preparing it properly to be transported.

DRESS CODE : A dress code is required for this program.  You are required to purchase and wear the approved color (navy blue) scrubs/uniform to each class and Hands-on training workshops. Closed toe shoes, not sandals are to be worn. You may purchase a white lab coat/jacket, but a disposable lab coat/jacket will be provided and should be always worn during clinicals/hands-on labs.

Is this program a Certificate of Completion or National Certification program?

Both!

Upon completion and passing the program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for the program and will have the opportunity to take the National Certified Phlebotomy Technician Exam (CPT). The price of the exam is included.

Note: Certification or licensure for phlebotomists is not required in the state of Florida. All you’ll need to do to become a phlebotomist in Florida is complete a training course. However, your chances of employment will improve if you acquire the certification, which is available to you with the completion of this program.

Which National CPT Certification does this program offer?

- This program offers the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) certification. It is a non-profit educational and certification organization that certifies healthcare professionals across the United States.

- The ASPT offers certifications in Phlebotomy, EKG, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, and Drug Screen Collection.

- Certification can demonstrate possession of a specialized set of skills to employers/potential employers, that can translate to a higher quality of work and professional reliability and commitment.
